Where Ideas Take Flight.
Hugo Junkers Award – Saxony-Anhalt's most generously funded research and innovation award, with €80,000 in prize money.

Great things can grow from an innovative idea. Aviation pioneer Hugo Junkers from Dessau demonstrated this impressively more than 100 years ago. For almost 30 years, the Ministry of Science, Energy, Climate Protection and the Environment of the State of Saxony-Anhalt has honored outstanding achievements in research, business and entrepreneurship with the prestigious Hugo Junkers Award. Today, many bright minds across the state continue to develop forward-looking solutions, making Saxony-Anhalt a strong center of innovation.

Innovation is the foundation of all progress and an essential basis for sustainable, successful advances in science and business.

The application period for the Hugo Junkers Award 2026 once again attracted a strong response: numerous bold, creative and socially relevant projects were submitted in all four categories.

On June 11, 2026, the winners were honored at a ceremony in Magdeburg's Jahrtausendturm. The awards recognized innovations that combine scientific excellence with practical applications and open up new possibilities for health, business and climate protection.

We thank all applicants for their creativity, dedication and contribution to the future of Saxony-Anhalt!

More information and all the winning projects can be found in the latest press release.
