Innovation is the foundation of all progress – and a key driver of sustainable business development in Saxony-Anhalt.
Founders, solo entrepreneurs, inventors, business leaders, and researchers from universities and research institutions across Saxony-Anhalt are invited to apply for the Hugo Junkers Award for Research and Innovation. The award honors outstanding inventions and scientific achievements that push boundaries and shape the future.
In a multi-stage process, an independent jury of experts from science, industry, business, and skilled trades selects the finalists based on the following criteria: business strategy, degree of innovation, resource efficiency, economic viability, and market potential. A total of €80,000 in prize money will be awarded again this year.

This year’s special prize focuses on "Most Innovative Projects for Climate Change Adaptation" and seeks forward-thinking solutions "made in Saxony-Anhalt" that demonstrate tangible impact and long-term relevance.
For nearly 30 years, the Ministry of Science, Energy, Climate Protection and the Environment of the State of Saxony-Anhalt has awarded the Hugo Junkers Award to honor pioneering innovations from science, industry, and the skilled trades.
