Winners of the Hugo-Junkers-Preis 2020
The Hugo-Junkers-Preis faced special challenges in the pandemic year 2020. Nevertheless, we received nearly 100 exciting and diverse applications. The submissions from all corners of the country once again demonstrate that innovations, especially in economically difficult times, are of immense importance; they strengthen the economic and scientific landscape of Saxony-Anhalt. We are pleased with the continued interest in the state's most highly endowed innovation competition and with the research and development enthusiasm of the scientists and entrepreneurs in Saxony-Anhalt.

Basic Research
Innovative projects in basic research from science, industry, and craftsmanship in Saxony-Anhalt were sought. The requirement is that the relevance and scientific advancement of the findings can be proven. Additionally, there should already be initial ideas for potential economic utilization.
Most Innovative Projects in the
Applied Research
Innovative projects in applied research from science, industry, and craftsmanship in Saxony-Anhalt were sought. The requirement is that representative research results in the form of a prototype, a clinical study, or similar must be available. Additionally, foreseeable regional economic effects in the region should be generated, with the potential for new products, services, business models, or jobs to be created through the development. This should be supported by market analyses and/or concrete intentions for market introduction.

Services & Business Models
Creative products, innovative services, and/or new business models from science, industry, and craftsmanship were sought. The requirement is that the application subject provides unique customer benefits and/or demonstrably improves existing products. Additionally, it must already be on the market or soon to be established on the market. The need for the application subject must be verifiable through market observations in the form of own studies such as industry analyses, customer surveys, or representative external studies.
Special Award: Most Innovative Projects in the Field of
Applied Interactive Technologies – APITs
Innovative products and services from companies and institutions in the field of "APITs – Applied Interactive Technologies" were sought. These should implement new approaches with their findings, initiatives, and projects, create new markets, or transform existing ones. The application subjects should demonstrate innovative customer benefits and/or demonstrably improve existing products.
