Innovations "Made in Saxony-Anhalt" – Awardees of the Hugo-Junkers-Preis 2019
Nearly 80 exciting and diverse applications were submitted for the Hugo-Junkers-Preis for Research and Innovation from Saxony-Anhalt 2019. The submissions from all corners of the state once again demonstrate the sustained interest in the region's most highly endowed innovation competition, and the quality of the applications highlights the research and development enthusiasm of the scientists and entrepreneurs of Saxony-Anhalt.

Basic Research
Innovative projects in basic research from science, industry, and craftsmanship in Saxony-Anhalt were sought. The requirement is that the relevance and scientific advancement of the findings can be demonstrated. Additionally, there should already be initial ideas for potential economic exploitation.
Most Innovative Projects in the
Applied Research
Innovative projects in applied research from science, industry, and craftsmanship in Saxony-Anhalt were sought. The requirement is that representative research results are available in the form of a prototype, a clinical study, or similar. Additionally, foreseeable regional economic effects in the state should be generated, with the development potentially leading to new products, services, business models, or jobs. This should be demonstrable through market analyses and/or concrete intentions for market introduction.
Most Innovative Products,
Services & Business Models
Creative products, innovative services, and/or new business models from science, industry, and craftsmanship were sought. The requirement is that the application subject offers unique customer benefits and/or demonstrably improves existing products. Additionally, it must already be on the market or about to be established in the market. The demand for the application subject must be verifiable through market observations, such as own research, industry analyses, customer surveys, or representative external studies.
Special Award: Most Innovative Projects in the Fields of
Mobility and Logistics
Innovative products and services from companies and institutions in the fields of mobility and logistics were sought, which realize new approaches, create new markets, or transform existing markets with their insights, initiatives, and projects. The application subjects should demonstrate innovative customer benefits and/or demonstrably improve existing products.
